The ISSS is responsible for putting on the Faculty Reception to warmly introduce incoming science students to the Faculty of Science at the University of Alberta. It is the first real chance that students have to interact with others who are not in their Orientation groups, and meet acquaintances whom they will likely see across campus and in their classes.
The ISSS’s role is to provide students with a free meal, to ensure that they feel they belong in the largest faculty on campus, and to ease their transition into the university atmosphere. It also provides an excellent opportunity for the students to familiarize themselves with the ISSS for the first time, providing them with a little information on who the ISSS is and what the ISSS does. On top of this, Faculty Administrators are present at the recepttion to interact with the students.
The 2016 -2017 Orientation BBQ will occur on August 31, 2016! Make sure to come out!
