Melissa Aikema

Who Am I: Hi, my name is Melissa and I am a fourth year student studying biological sciences with a minor in creative writing, and I am this year’s Vice President of Community

My Role: As Vice President Community I facilitate communications with department, program, and special interest groups under Faculty of Science here on campus. I also act as a liaison with the faculty on issues pertaining to equality, diversity, and inclusion. I serve on council to best represent the community-pertaining interests of the faculty of science students.

Advice for Upcoming University Students: My advice is to not be afraid to take up space on campus! Talk to profs, partake in studies, and join clubs that you personally find interesting (not just ones you think you should join). Good luck!
