Ramnik Aojula

Who Am I: My name is Ramnik Aojula and I am a fourth-year biological science student with a minor in anthropology. I am one of the fourth-year councillors and co-directors of internal relations for the ISSS.

My Role: This is my second year in ISSS and I have gained a lot of insight into the importance of a councillor’s role. This includes holding the executives accountable for their respective responsibilities and ensuring Faculty of Science students are represented appropriately. Furthermore, as part of the President’s portfolio, I’ve learned how critical it is to promote teamwork within the ISSS in order to foster productive work by embracing each other’s strengths and weaknesses. This year, I am looking forward to advocating for mental health and improving the accessibility to mental health resources for Faculty of Science students.

My Advice for Upcoming University Students: Starting your first year of university can be intimidating and stressful, but I believe that putting less pressure on yourself to be the best academically can help alleviate some of that stress. As important as academics are, your first year of university should also be a time to explore your interests, get involved in campus life, and create lifelong connections.
